Sunday, Sunday...

What a glorious day it's been in these parts. Having misplaced my shades oo-er I spend much of the day indoors sorting and organising my unmounted stamps into jewel cases, they are now wonderfully organised and easy to find and use. Which of course meant I had to create something!

So, my cousin Guy celebrates his birthday the same day as me, which meant this was the perfect excuse to now use as many of those stamps as i could now that I could find them all! And lo and behold, it was also the perfect excuse to blow off the dust from the embossing powder box and heat gun and give them a whirl. Don't think they've been used in about a year! :oO

Shocking!

So anyway, used the card blank, paper, cardstock and ribbon from the July Self Addressed kit combined with QK studio, the lovely Pink Flamingo alpha stamps and other stamps from the kits combined with good old silver embossing powder.

Time for a new look...

Well, it's been less than a week... But I was getting a bit sick of the black. It's still not how I really want it, but getting there... plus 3 hours yesterday messing with the template and fiddling with tags and html code I have managed to create a list in the sidebar for books I've just finished, am reading and music I'm listening to. Not bad, that UCAPD in IT 3 years ago has come in handy... wonder how easy it will be to maintain! LOL

Went for a nice meal with daddy dearest last night to the Farmhouse pub - they still have my fave dish, the Dolcelatte and Pear tart in herb pastery... yummo! And a lovely veggie dish, their sea breeze fruit juice cocktails are just the best too! Mmmmm....

I had completely no resolve yesterday, and have requested the full Self-Addressed kit in September complete with the 12x12 paper add-on. The papers are just too good to pass up, and are in that French 50's boutique style with gorgeously chic colours... oh I can't wait to get it now!

But I absolutely must get creative with my August kit and previous months... must, must must...

Another day, another dollar...

It's been so hot and stuffy in the office at work the past few days that I've not even fancied switching the PC on when I got in from work... first stop the freezer for an ice lolly! Yippee!!

I'd love to be able to enjoy this weather we've been getting... the evenings have been lovely and I've sat out reading more of my book and sudoku-ing away...

Really enjoyed The Apprentice last night, but again elements of the UK 1st season by brining back former fired apprentices to work on the teams... We had to say bye-bye to Raj last night, I think Ivana's for the chop soon... or at least I hope so... :o)

America's Next Top Model ends on Monday, so I have now picked up another reality show to while away the hours on... Showbiz Moms & Dads.... blimey... it's another world! Especially the beauty pageant circuit... I've seen documentaries about it before, but you think that's showing the extreme side of it really... but no... the mom, grandma, and 4-year old complete with their gay 30-something pageant coach are a real eye-opener! Although really cringe-worthy, it's still rather addictive viewing! Like how many people can say they fake-tanned their baby! Shocking! LOL

So I had high hopes of finishing The Good Wife today on the bus home... didn't happen as some rather colourful biddies got on the bus and I didn't get a moment's quiet bless... so the sudoku puzzle book I bought, just in case I'd need it, didn't get used... however, it has some other tough looking Japanese puzzles in it so may give it a whirl tonight... I should be making some birthday cards for the 23rd but it's too hot to concentrate... here's hoping tomorrow will do!

Anyway, heat's too much, I need to go top up my glass of ice cold Tropicana Golden Grapefruit mmmm....

Things to do list...

Dinner made.... Check!

Work completed.... Check!

Cats fed... Check!

Washing up done... Check!

Finally! That means I can test my nice new QuicKutz Studio font that arrived today! Many thanks to Melinda's DH for braving the post office queue to get this sent to me. :oD It looks super lush, if a little strange to see 3 letters on a long steel plate...

But observe, the gorgeousness of QK Studio font:

And just right for all that KI! :oD

Another week means...

Another book to start on the bus to and from work. As I finished my Jill Mansell on Friday, it was time to delve into the TBR pile again this morning. And since I'd shuffled it up a bit yesterday sorting stuff for bookcrossing and have unearthed something that has been lying there at least a few years. Elizabeth Buchan's The Good Wife. Will see how it pans out. :D
As predicted I have managed nothing productive so far this evening, perhaps it's time to crack another sudoku puzzle before America's Next Top Model is on. However there are 2 DVDs from amazon sat here ready to watch that I really should, before I manage to waste another month's rental by not watching the flipping things until the end of the month! LOL
Oh and Self-Addressed has the week 7 challenge up involving the tin from the August kit. I'd wanted to use that for a card not a conventional altered project so I'm not sure if that'd qualify... oh well, will see what others do with it. :oD

Hi-ho Hi-ho, it's off to work I go...

Well the start of another week, hopefully less hectic than the last. Meaning, that I want to be able to complete the weekly team challenge on UKScrappers since it has been set by our team this week - yey!

I'm not really a night-time scrapper, when I get in from work I just can't sit down and scrap - I just can't. But on a weekend I often start scrapping something at around 6 which is the time I usually get in from work on a weekday... now that is bizarre! So I dare say I won't start this challenge until Saturday. LOL

My god... it's my twin!

Hey look! It's my VirtualModel!Self... :oD I found this link on another blog - you too can discover your VirtualModel!Twin at www.myvirtualmodel.com.

She looks freakishly like me, doesn't she... I've decided to name her Tatiana! :op

Oh...

Looks like Bookcrossing is finally up and running again... So I suppose this is the end of the fun and I'd best get registering a stack of books! Oh joy! LOL

The Challenge

Right, the next one is part of the Week 7 challenge over on the Self-Addressed forum (My Address).

The challenge was to create an Anniversary card (in celebration of their 1 year anniversary) using past kits. Well as I had the May kit out, I couldn't resist playing about with it a bit more. Just love these scallop cards, especially sanded back a bit and upright... Chatterbox papers for the main bit, and a strip of aged Collage Press lime paper - I just love that range from Collage Press! Haven't had the pixie alpha stamps out in ages, so thought it only fair they should get used a bit... Finished off with some brown ribbon - yum!

Ta-da!

I've decided it's all about blue, green and brown... for some reason I just love these colours at the moment. Faced with tidying up some scraps from yesterday I decided to use them rather than file them for future use, and what better to combine them with than the May Self-Addressed kit?

Where is the time going, it's already late afternoon and I have only managed a few cards?? Oh dear... But anyway, here's the first one:

This one uses up the blue KI paper from yesterday's LO as well as some leftover brown cardstock. I combined it with the May Self-Addressed cardstock and stamps. Just love that lime green DCWV cardstock as it's got a white card and can be sanded back nicely! Also the stamps are the Purple Onion stamps included in the May kit, very nice. I finally had to mount them onto a clear block with double sided tape and store them in a CD case as I couldn't get them inked evenly and was getting myself covered in ink as my only brown dye ink is in a large pad and not in a smaller format - nightmare... lol!
Oh and of course the small flower is a Prima flower attached with a DCWV chartreuse brad. I am really liking their brads - haven't bought any of the Bazzill monochromatic ones, but I believe these are the same... I just love the colours as they match their cardstock oddly enough, and on cards I tend to use a lot of the DCWV cardstock for accents as that's what we get in kits. :oD

Well, so much for that!

Here I am sat with my pile of books to the ready, updating my spreadsheet, and lo and behold the BookCrossing website is down, so I can't register any at the moment! Grrrr...

Nothing like having your plans thwarted is there?

So, either I get on with proofing a German document about making custom handbags (actually the handbags in question are very much like my little pink one I have from
Scrapcanvas) complete with animal print handles and monogram... It won't be much of a hardship I suppose, and I am doing it as a favour... so...

But wouldn't I rather just get on and play with my Self-Addressed kit??

Let's get these books into the wild!

Today's the day! I have realised that I really need to sort out my bookshelves and get everything uploaded on book crossing as I have been very remiss with this lately... Yes, as anally retentive as I am, I have a spreadsheet for all my books to work out what's been read, not been read, and what's up for trade... Goodness I've not even managed to keep that up-to-date!

Mammoth task ahead of me then...

Cherryade - why??

Something very strange happened recently... I suddenly began craving cherryade... No, nothing like that... but this happens from time to time... when there is something I've not tasted for a number of years and suddenly get desperate to the point of obsession to taste it again! Last time it was double-dips, but I saw that Love Hearts had one with 3 flavours and a candy floss flavoured twizzle stick... alas, not as good as the original cherry and orange one IMHO...

So, this time it's cherryade... had almost forgotten the taste, and by god they still make it seriously fizzy - my nose is still bubbling. But I think after this weekend I'll be able to not need to taste it for another few years again. I think this all must have stemmed from subliminal messages from that Makosi on Big Brother... sheesh... I am brainwashed by popular culture! LOL

Wonder what the next craving will be....?

Feeling playful

Well, not bad going, at least it's a layout, and using bits from my LRS kit - yey me!

I'm not entirely happy with it, as well... what can you say about a photo of a sea lion when it's the only photo from your aquarium trip that has "tropical" looking water in it. LOL

Anyway, at least I've got productive and scrapped something from the Vancouver trip. Journaling reads:

The torrential rain started on our first day in Vancouver. After wandering around the city in the rain we finally had enough and hopped on the Trolley and made our way back down town. And where better to end up than a place that had even more water:
The Aquarium in Stanley Park
The only ones who didn't seem to mind the downpour were the sea lions and other water-loving creatures. Shame we weren't so happy about it when we had to trudge the couple of miles back to our hotel in squidgy shoes and soaking socks!

Day One: Rain

Supplies:
Doodlebug cardstock
KI Memories Collection V Playful papers
KI Memories Blue Splash Flower paper
KI Memories tag
Fonts: KentuckyFried and Johnny Lunchpail

Time... where does it go?

Now that I think I'm up and running here, I suppose I really should concentrate on getting something productive done... It is the weekend after all, and this time is rather precious... I still have my LRS kit from July to play with - I love KI Collection V! So what is wrong with me? Why haven't I created a LO with it yet... Answers on a post card please!

Also my August Self-Addressed kit is still crying out for more attention, 2 cards down, I just have to get busy!

Right - that's it, it's time to go and create.

I may be some time!

The first step is admitting you have a problem....

Well, this is definitely a break from the norm. All these Kool Kats with their fab blogs have inspired me to take the plunge myself... we'll have to see how this pans out as I have never managed to keep a journal for longer than a couple of weeks! Perhaps I just lead a rather boring life... LOL

Even on last year's holiday in Vancouver, I only managed to record the day's events for 4 out of 7 days. Pathetic! But I have lots and lots of photos to remind me of what we did so I'd best get it all recorded one way or another in my scrapbook... more than 200 photos, how many pages am I going to have to create!?

Anyway, I'm off to check out this whole blogging scene and see what I'm missing! :o)
